Maybe Next Year...
So my beloved Red Sox are on vacation in October. A disappointing end to their first season as defending World Series Champions in 86 years. I still can't believe it. Before last October, the best sporting moment of my life was watching Ray Bourque raise the Stanley Cup. As a fucking Colorado Avalanche. Basically, I could care less what happens in the sporting world for the rest of time. The Sox finally won and my world has changed.
I was reading up today in the hopes of deciding who to root for in the upcoming World Series. Seeing as how my second favorite team (whoever is playing the Yankees) will not be playing, it's a tough call. After years of hating him, I've turned a corner in my post-Red Sox relationship with Roger Clemens. He's a monster and I am in awe of him. I've always been a big fan of Jeff Bagwell (another one the Sox let go). But I feel immense sympathy for the fans of the White Sox, who've gone longer without a Series win than my beloved Red Sox. Plus Paul Konerko is from Providence, RI. Maybe I'll be better off watching some Bruins action. Not sure about the new rules (or rather enforcement thereof) though.
